У горах Вікторії хотів би я жить,
З гори на долину на лижах зїздить.
Там новацтво співає весело все ухаха,
І голос бунчужного дзвінко бренить.
Пластовий Лещетарський Табір «Круті Сніжинки» відбувся від 28-ого до 30-ого серпня цього року на вікторіянському гірськолижному курорті «Mount Hotham». Коло 45 учасників із Мельборну, Сіднею та Канберри ночували в українському альпійському житлі «Калина» та мали денний лещетарський інструктаж в лижній школі та з пластовими інструкторами . Всім дуже сподобалось кататися по свіжо снігом-обсипаними трасами під чистим синьім небом. Після катання, учасники займалися виробленням «гірського» морозива, будували замки із снігу, та брали участь в інструктажі «йога» із сестричкою Райою. В останню ніч, всі дуже пишно вечеряли «українським бенкетом» включно з супер смачним борщем, оселедцями, огірками, ковбаскою та варениками із цибульою, сметаною та грибним соусом! Лештаб знову відбудеться в серпні 2016 року.
З глибоким сумом повідомляємо, що 22 липня 2015 року Божого під час бойового завдання на Донбасі загинув ст.пл. Микола Гордійчук "Гризун". Микола був активним пластуном, громадським діячем Кам'янця-Подільського, талановитим музикантом. Коли розпочалася війна на Сході – зголосився добровольцем у батальйон спеціального призначення "Гарпун".
До останнього подиху був вірний пластовій присязі та відстоював Україну від вражої руки, як в словах гімну новаків та новачок, який свого часу співав будучи в новацтві.
Під громом гармат у важкій боротьбі ти не зламав своїх присяг. Спочивай з миром, друже Микола!

З 20-го червня по 2-го липня, в гiрських околицях Гантера, Ню Йорк, CШA, відбувся міжкрайовий вишкіл таборових провідниць, Школа Булавних. Основною метою ШБ є підготувати кваліфікованих булавних для юнацьких таборів, провідниць, які завжди сумлінно виконуватимуть свої функції та будуть хорошим прикладом для наслідування. Старші пластунки будь-якого віку та юначки в 11-12 клясах можуть брати участь.
Продовж вишколу учасниці отримують теоретичні знання під час гутірок і добрі навички з практичного пластування. Заняття дають кожній учасниці необхідні базові знання та навики для того, щоб кваліфіковано підготувати та провести якісний і ефективний табір для пластового юнацтва.
Цього року з Австралії поїхали ст.пл. Таїса Попович (на Школу булавних) та ст.пл. Наталка Кострабі (на вишкіл бунчужних).

Цього року при кінці червня, я втікала від зимної Вікторії та разом з дев'ять учасниками від Америки, брала участь на Miжкрайовому Вишкільному Таборі "Школа Булавних" 2015. Табір відбувся від 20-го червня до 2-го липня на терені Лексінґтон (біля Гантері), Ню Йорк.
Вишкіл виявлявся як юнацький табір і ми піонірством, між іншим, збудували стола та високу машту, навчилися нові пісні (навіть білими голосами!), інакші методи пильнування юначок та інакші речі для юнацтва - і все по українські.
Перед табором ми мусіли приготовити зошит i більше ніж 15 пляни на вмілостi - деяких які ми всіпроводили на таборі.
Табір мені був важкий але я щаслива, що поїхала, бо я зустріла чудових пластових дівчат з Америки і також навчилася, ще більше про Пласт та, що пластуни з Америки роблять інакше. Мені було дивно наприклад, що всі табори там тривають три тижні. Юнаки і юначки багато окремо роблять та всі стараються говорити по українські, щоб затримати та покращати їхню мову.
Я б заохочувала пластунів Австралії брати участь в Школу Булавних як мають нагоду. Але я б рекомендувала, щоб вони добре на перед приготовилися, щоб були готові повернутися до юнацького життя але, щоб любили цю нагоду та вивчали нових методів пластового виховництва як найбільш можуть!

Four years ago I ventured across the seas to America to participate in the notoriously difficult all female, two week vyshkil (leadership training camp): Shkola Bulavnykh. This experience was truly life changing as it gave me a chance to not only discover my own self. This camp aims to work the body to the bone, grow the mind, build authentic Plast relationships and provide a foundation for our future leaders.
The program of Skhola Bulavnykh is essentially the same as the first one 47 years ago. Young women must first set up the camp: going out into the woods to cut down trees and carry the logs back to camp to then create a communal kitchen, dining table, toilet and of course the flag pole. There are sessions such as: the psychological development of children, the philosophy of Plast, First Aid, how to run skhodyny, marching and cartography. There are homework tasks with specific deadlines such as learning Ukrainian Morse Code! On top of all this there are night-watch shifts (stijka) and kitchen duty. All the time the participants are being monitored and assessed by the leaders on their attitude, leadership shown and general knowledge development.
In 2015, four years ago seems life a life time ago for me. In that time I completed my teacher training, moved out of home to the country, moved back to the city and completed three years of teaching secondary school, as well as much more! However, when the opportunity was presented to me to return to America and participate in the vyshkil as a leader, I jumped at the chance. I wanted to present the next generation of young Plast women the same foundation, skills and passion that I experienced four years ago.
Plast sincerely thanks the Karpaty Foundation for its continuing support of our young people, future leaders and Plast in Australia. The Karpaty Foundation was established to build a fair, just, creative and caring society, particularly in relation to the Ukrainian community in Australia and in Ukraine by promoting creativity, innovation, tolerance, and the fulfilment of potential for the betterment and improvement of community values in society. Over the last year, the Karpaty Foundation has donated over $12,000 to Plast special projects and tabory across Australia., including:
Archery
Plastuny in Sydney met up at the Archery Centre, Sydney Olympic Park during the school holidays in July to try their hand at archery. Some their first time, others having another go. After a short lesson in how to handle the bows and arrows, as well as some safety tips we started shooting. We all struggled in the beginning, lots to remember. Even though the targets were so big they were not very easy to hit, let alone a bullseye. Each round we all had to wait till everyone had finished before we made the dash to retrieve our arrows, at times a long trek as many arrows had gone way beyond the targets. Novactvo's targets were brought closer and games with balloons were introduced. Seemon and Andy were the top shooters of the day. It was a fun activity as well as a challenge formost of us.
After a snack break a small group of novatsvo hiked over to Wentworth Common where they followed the spiral track to the top of the Marker. There were 360 degree views over the Parramatta River to the city, Olympic Park and Parramatta. A race back down finished up in the sandpit and play area. I wonder what we'll do next school holidays????

Plast Victoria would like to congratulate Nikolaas Kostraby who was awarded the student with the highest academic achievement in the final year of the Bachelor of Applied Science (Geomatics) in 2014 at RMIT. Currently he is working as a Graduate Spatial Scientist at GHD.
Nikolaas volunteers his scarce spare time to work with our youngest plastuny at tabir (ptashenyatta aged 0-5) as well as novatstvo (aged 6-12) throughout the year. We sincerely thank him for his valued contributions in the engagement of our young members.
