Plast NSW is hosting this year's camp at 'Little River' on the banks of the Hawkesbury River, near Wiseman's Ferry. With the theme "Річка Культури/River of Culture" we'll be exploring Plast's place in Ukraine's rich culture - both traditional and modern.

We're still looking for one or two more helpers with Novatstvo and Yunatstvo - Can you help? Have a chat with Lenny Lulka if you'd like to be involved.

Despite initially having to deal with the prospect of not having sufficient manpower to run a tabir this summer, Plast Victoria is pleased to announce that Tabir is indeed being held at Sokil.

Stanytsia is very grateful to the generosity of the volunteers who put their hand up in a last ditch effort to keep the Plast flame burning in Victoria this summertime.

While a shortened Tabir is definitely on at Sokil from 27 December 2017 to 1 January 2018, Stanytsia still needs all the volunteer help it can get to run activities for Novatstvo and the daily operation of the camp. Please volunteer by contacting the Tabir organisers here.

Another successful Lesh (Ski) Tabir was held at Kalyna Ski Lodge at Mount Hotham from Thursday 29 June to Sunday 2 July 2017. Participant improved their skiing ability with daily lessons and time for free skiing. Evening activities included a trivia night and Ukrainian feast.

A big thankyou to Philip Botte for organising and to all those that helped out to make it another great tabir.

за довготривалу і визначну працю на пості господаря станиці Вікторії протягом понад 20 років, а саме за: постійне переведення і догляд робіт в модернізації пластової площі Сокіл у Вікторії, плянування поліпшень площі на майбутнє та ремонт і догляд за пластовою домівкою. .

Пл.сен. Володя Магаляс працював (і ще далі працює) як інтендант/господар станиці Вікторії, вже понад 20 років. Слідуючі підсумки покривають його діяльність лише за останніх 14 років....
1. Щорічно, з допомогою активних членів Пласт Прияту і сеніорів, переводить фізичну підготовку пластової площі «Сокіл» на літні табори: чищення площі і басейну, санітарна підготовка, достава води на пиття підчас років посухи, перевірка помп на воду, рур, водопроводів, перевірка електричних проводів, дрібні ремонти в кухні і їдальні.
2. Регулярно, приблизно раз на місяць, перевіряє стан площі підчас комерсійного винайму.
3. До 2012 року виконував ремонти і доглядав за Пластовою Домівкою
4. Від 2010 допомагав в переведенні Лещетарських Таборів як інструктор
5. Плянує потреби пластової площі, Соколу, на майбутнє. Організував та переводив або наглядав за цілою низкою поважних робіт на пластовій площі, Сокіл:
2003-06 - огородження басейну
          - вставлення нових танків на гарячу воду
          - вставлення двох танків на воду до пиття
          - ремонт кльозетів і тушів при команді
2006-08 - догляд роботи контракторів при вставлені водопроводів та каналізації по цілій площі
          - вставлення ще двох танків на воду
2009-12 - догляд перебудови бараків для новацтва (і для винайму)
          - модернізація кльозетів і тушів
          - вставлення додатковіих танків на воду
2013-16 - відновлення і повний ремонт каплиці на Соколі (в гуцульському стилі)
          - відновлення електричних проводів на площі для таборування батьків

Особливим є те що, хоч Володя мав поміч активних членів Пласт Прияту і сеніорів, він був одинокий який плянував потреби Соколу на майбутність і постійно, за останніх 20 років, переводив роботи. Поміч членів Пласт Прияту була і є доривочна і рідко включає будьяких фахівців-будівельників.

Відповідальність за технічні роботи падає лише на Володю, хіба що станиця затруднювала контракторів до деяких поважних робіт, коли Володя доглядав щоб контрактори дотримувалися узгіднених плянів. Часом робота потребувала лише фахівця і Володя працював сам. Кожного року розбудова і догляд Соколу забирають 15 - 18 днів праці.

З підтримкою Станичного Проводу і в міру фінансової спроможності станиці, пл.сен Володя Магаляс постійно працює щоб змодернізувати Сокіл до сьогоднішних вимог винайму та забезпечити Сокіл водою і електрикою на майбутнє.

Безперечно, що без постійного нагляду Володі над винаймом площі і виконанням робіт, станиця Вікторії на мала би таборової площі для використання юнацтвом і новацтвом під табори, і не мала би постійного прибутку із винайму площі.

Лише коли зібрати всю працю за останніх приблизно 20 років, можна усвідомити скільки постійної праці і часу було вложено, і до якої міри Пласт Вікторії користає з добровільної праці пл.сен. Володі Магаляса.

Від 12 до 19 серпня 2017 року на оселі Jugendsiedlung Hochland поблизу села Кенігсдорф (Konigsdorf) відбулась Ювілейна Міжкрайова Пластова Зустріч «Серед Лісу», присвячена 70-літтю Свята Весни у Міттенвальді та 105 річниці заснування Пласту.

12 серпня відбулось урочисте відкриття Зустрічі та дефіляда. Серед учасників були присутні пластуни, які у 1947 році брали участь у святкуванні Свята Весни, представники пластового проводу, духівники Української Греко-Католицької та Української Автокефальної Православної Церков, зокрема Владика Борис Ґудзяк та Петро Крик, представник Генконсульства України в Мюнхені Дмитро Шевченко та члени німецьких скаутських організацій. Почесні гості привітали усіх присутніх пластунів.

Програма свята була дуже насиченою цікавими активітетами: рафтинг – 14 км неи?мовірного драи?ву по річці «Inn – Immster Schlucht», мандрівка до підніжжя найвищої гори Німеччини – Цуґшпітце (Zugspitze) – через так званий Печерний Каньйон (Hollentalklamm), екскурсія Мюнхеном та великикий тереновий змаг на території оселі.

Окрім цього в часі ЮМПЗ відбулась міжкрайова екологічна виставка «Зелена Планета», виставка «Міттенвальд 1947», міжкрайова ватра «Пласт in concert», VI Пластовий конгрес та пластова вечірка за участі Kozak System. Працювала пластова пошта – можна було надіслати листівку з ЮМПЗ в будь-яку точку світу з фірмовими марками та штампом пошти Німеччини.

Особливо зворушливим моментом була спільна мандрівка усіх учасників ЮМПЗ в місто Міттенвальд та на місце Свята Весни 1947. Урочиста зустріч відбулось у відпочинковому парку Міттенвальду, за участі мера міста, всіх пластунів та гостей. Пан Горнштайнер, мер міста привітав пластунів і побажав надалі слідувати пластовому гаслу "Залишати світ трішки кращим після себе, ніж він був до того".

В часі урочистого закриття у парку відкрили меморіал на згадку про переміщених осіб, котрі під час війни втратили свою батьківщину. Наймолодші учасники ЮМПЗ 2017 – новаки, і учасники Свята Весни 1947 року посадили дерево ґінкґо (ginkgo biloba). Обираючи це дерево, яке водночас є одним з найстаріших на планеті, пластуни хотіли, щоб воно було символом миру, охорони довкілля, дружби та сили, завдяки якій пластуни рознесли пластову ідею по світу і привили її на різних територіях своїх поселень.

На ЮМПЗ 2017 було представлено 13 країв: Австралія, Австрія, Бельгія, Велика Британія, Канада, Німеччина, Південно-Африканська Республіка, Польща, Словаччина, США, Україна, Франція та Швейцарія. На Зустріч завітали представники більш як 60 станиць. Найстаршому учаснику/гістю зустрічі було 84 роки, а наймолодшому – 3,5 місяців.

Irene Havryluk-Davies - My Reflections from UMPZ Germany "Серед Лісу"

An adventure was calling………..UMPZ in Germany, the Bavarian Alps, 'Пластуни' and a European Summer vacation. It sounded wonderful. How could I resist! So off I went. Me and three of my pals from my kyrin 'Червоні Маки', Оля Дудинська, Люся Мілар, Оля Ліройд і я, Іруся Гаврилюк-Дейвис.

After flying for 23 hours from Melbourne we were finally in Munich. We relaxed, did some sight-seeing and some shopping for a few days then we were off to Tabir. Tabir was a 45 minute train ride and then a 30 minute bus trip from Munich in the Bavarian Alps at 'Jugendsiedlung Hochland' camp ground.

We arrived at Tabir check-in and received a small daypack, a lunch box, drink bottle, biro, coloured pencils, a T-shirt and taborova 'хустка'. We were then shown to our accommodation. Dormitory style building with bunk beds and 4 of us to share one room. Communal showers and toilets, no fridge, tea or coffee making facilities and no air con!! Yes this must be Tabir, at least we're not in tents!!

Tabir was FANTASTIC. Not for the accommodation or the food but for the camaraderie and the wonderful Plast spirit that was present in the 'Сеніори' but most of all in the 'Новацтво', 'Юнацтво' i 'Старші Пластуни'

Пластуни from 8 nations, patriotic, nationalistic and enthusiastic, with pride for Plast and Україна running through their veins. I can't begin to explain how heart-warming and uplifting it was to experience this and be amongst this amazing group of people.

Meeting 'Сеніори' that were present at Tabir in Mittenwald in 1947. Listening to their life stories and the journeys that brought them back to the UMPZ 2017. Watching them light the first 'Таборова Ватра' and listening to 400 voices sing along to the crackling fire was spine-tingling.

We had trips to Munich and little Bavarian villages, hikes through the Alps and even time for a spot of retail therapy and of course the return to Mittenwald and the site of the tabir in 1947, but the highlight for me was to listen to the beautiful young voices speaking Ukrainian, laughing, singing and ensuring that Plast lives on.

I feel very privileged to have been able to participate and will treasure the experience forever.

Leonid Vereshaka – UMPZ reflections

There were two things that impressed me the most about UMPZ in Germany.

That during the Wednesday tent Vatra when the individual scouts performed, the Yunatsvo supported each act wholeheartedly irrespective of which sub camp the performers belonged too. To me it just showed the spirit of the camp.

The other was the way the Ukrainian Scouts from the US respected their flag after finishing their performance. I deliberately paid attention to what the boys would do with the flag after finishing their act. I was pleasantly impressed regarding the reverence to the flag that they showed by folding it up in the US Military style before putting it away.

Needless to say I was also impressed with the excellent trips to Munchen, the prohylku and the final trip to Miteenwald which were organised for us. I thought the planting of the tree was a great idea.

On Friday 10 November, Kurin Chervoni Maky organised a singalong and presentation about the UMPZ held in Germany at Kalyna Care. A group of approximately 20 seniory attended the enjoyable afternoon.

In 1963 at a meeting of USP-ok the attending plastunky decided to join an existing USP hurtok "Vid'my" which had originally been a hurtok of UPJ formed in 1955. The name was changed to Stepovi Vid'my in accordance with the guidelines of USP.

In 1966 Irene Sawczak moved to Melbourne and established the Melbourne branch of Stepovi Vid'my. The Adelaide kurin is known as the "Mother" kurin because that is where it was first established.

Today Stepovi Vid'my are global. As well as our Australian Kurins (in Adelaide, Sydney and Melbourne) there are kurins in Canada, America and Lviv, Ukraine. They participate in the work of Stanytci, Ukrainian schools, Ukrainian churches, Hromady, dancing groups, choirs and Soyuz Ukrainok.

02/07/2017 was a historic occasion for the Melbourne Kurin. Our first "initiation ceremony" for the 21st Century took place where two probationary members Melania Buc (nee Hiluta) and Laura Powell( nee Baranowski) became permanent members of Stepovi Vid'my. Another first was using SKYPE for Melania's initiation as she was in America.

29/10/2017 a Kurinna Rada( Vid'omskyj Zlet) in Adelaide. Stepovi Vid'my from Sydney, Melbourne and Adelaide participated.

В 1963р. на сходинах УСП-ок в Аделайді присутні пластунки долучилися до існуючого гуртка УСП-ок Відьом (створений як юнацький гурток в 1955р) і змінили назву на Степові Відьми згідно з вимогами правильника УСП. Виївхаши до Мельборну в 1966р. Ірена Савчак заснувала новий гурток/курінь. Курінь в Аделайдi є "Матірним" бо там був заснований.

Тереном діяльности куреня є Австралія (Аделайда, Мельборн і Сідней), Америка, Канада і Львів, Україна. Наші Степові Відьми є активні в станицях, школах, при церквах, в громадах, мистецьких колективах і Союз Українок.

02/07/2017р в мельборнському курені відбулася дуже важна і спеціяльна подія. Перший раз в 21-му століттю наш курінь прийняв в дійсне членство "Степових Відьом" Меланію Буц (з дому Гілюту) і Лору Пеул (з дому Барановську). Рівнож, уживалu нову, для мельборнських відьом, технологію – Skype. Меланія живе тимчасово в Америці такщо іі ініціяція вібулася через "Skype".

29/10/2017р. відбулася Курінна Рада (Відьомський Злет) в Аделайді. Учасники"/Відьми" приїхали з Аделайди, Мельборну і Сіднею.

Bowling

It had been a long-awaited catch-up. After the success of the Cockatoo Island trip back in May, on Saturday, September 9th 2017, novatstvo (новацтво), yunatstvo (юнацтво) and starshe plastuny (старші пластуни) came together and travelled to North Strathfield Kingpin, for an afternoon filled with fun - bowling, laser tag and arcade games.

There were 16 members who came along. Firstly, we played two games of bowling, then we moved across to play three round of laser tag. Here, we joined forces into two teams to battle in a friendly fire. Pl sen Myrosia Iwasyk also joined in and proved a tactical teammate for the red team! The afternoon ended with arcade games.

The starshe plastuny harnessed and demonstrated their inner child in all the games, while novatstvo and yunatstvo equally showed their skills and athleticism. Thank you to ПЛАСТ for supporting and funding the great action packed afternoon. It was enjoyed by all – young and 'older'!

Sviato Pokrovy was held on Sunday 29th October at Jells Park. Following a BBQ lunch, an apel was held during which Pl.Sen. Wally Magalas was presented with the St George in Silver award, primarily for his long-time work with the maintenance and development of Sokil. 8 kids joined novatstvo and were presented with yellow scarves – they will form a new novatskyj rij the lysyci/foxes.

Novatski skhodyny

Novatski skhodyny have been running during the year under the guidance of pl.sen Chrestyna Kmet. Parents have been taking turns to run skhodyny and topics covered have included Sv Jurij, novatskyj zakon, songs and maps.
