Plast Australia has welcomed a historic decision recognising the significance of Plast in Ukraine and its contribution to the country’s youth and scouting movement.
The organisation warmly congratulated Plast in Ukraine following the signing of Presidential Decree No. 873/2026, describing the decision as an important step for the future development of Plast and the wider scouting movement both in Ukraine and throughout the Ukrainian diaspora.
Plast Australia, through KPS(PAE), formally supported the submission that led to the recognition. For the Australian Plast community, the decision acknowledges the organisation’s longstanding role in youth development, leadership, community service and the strengthening of Ukrainian identity across generations and borders.
The recognition is particularly significant for a movement whose activities extend far beyond scouting in its traditional sense. Through education, outdoor activities, leadership and service, Plast has played an important role in nurturing young Ukrainians and maintaining connections to Ukrainian culture and community around the world.
For Plast Australia, the decree represents not only recognition within Ukraine but a meaningful moment for the global Plast community, linking Ukrainian scouts across generations and continents.
As Plast Australia stated in its message of congratulations, it is a “significant step forward for our global Plast community” — and a moment to celebrate the continued development of a movement that has carried Ukrainian identity, values and community across borders.
