On Sunday 14 th June 2026, kureni Blyskavky and Stepovi Vidmy met to
play off in the annual “Ksenia Teodorowych Croquet Cup” in memory of
our dear departed podruha Ksenia Teodorowych. Eternal Memory,
Ksenia!
Kurinna Blyskavok, podruha Tanya Karliychuk welcomed all participants
after which a minute’s silence was observed in honour of Ksenia; the
tournament was held two days before the 4 th anniversary of her passing.
I think Ksenia would be really pleased to see us joining together in such
joyous camaraderie to honour her dedication to the kurin “Blyskavky”
and Plast in general.
The weather held off long enough for us to enjoy some tuition and
helpful tips from three members of the Strathfield Croquet Club followed
by a few practise games, after which we partook in some refreshments
in the clubhouse.
As the weather finally began closing in on us with dark menacing clouds
gathering, we played two new games – “Bagatelle” and “Fish in the
pond” after which the Blyskavky emerged victorious by one point, just
before it started raining!
Thanks to all who helped in the organisation of the day – in particular
Tanya Karliychuk and Myrosia Iwasyk, and to the Strathfield Croquet
Club for hosting us and providing such patient and expert tuition.
We look forward to next year when we will continue the tradition!
