PLAST NSW was proud to be a Platinum Sponsor of Ukifest 2026, held at Tumbalong Park, Darling Harbour last Saturday. The festival was a vibrant celebration of Ukrainian culture, community, and creativity, and we were honoured to be part of such a meaningful event.
As part of our contribution, PLAST NSW hosted a dedicated Kids Zone tent, organised by Handzia and Mikkal. Throughout the day, children enthusiastically engaged in a variety of interactive activities, including knot tying, keychain making, pysanka (egg) decorating, and colouring. It was wonderful to see so many young participants enjoying these hands-on experiences and connecting with Ukrainian traditions.
We extend our sincere thanks to everyone—both young and old—who stopped by to lend a hand throughout the day. Your support was greatly appreciated. Special thanks go to Julian and Ed for their early morning assistance with setup, and to Anneka, Marius, Elizabeth, Mila, Tomas, Ed, Danny, Elena, Larisa, and Myrosia for volunteering their time and energy across the event.
We also warmly congratulate all Plastuny who performed at Ukifest. It was inspiring to see so many of our members take to the stage—singing, dancing, and playing musical instruments. We were especially proud to see strong representation from Plast members across Australia, both performing in groups such as Lehenda and supporting the event behind the scenes as dedicated volunteers. A particular highlight of the festival was the electrifying performance by Kalush Orchestra, which brought incredible energy and drew an enthusiastic response from the crowd. Your PLAST family is incredibly proud of your talent and commitment.
A special mention goes to our Blyskavka, Natalie Fallon-Zelynski, for painting one of the giant pysanky featured in this year’s spectacular display—one of the standout highlights of the festival.
