Visnyk Summer 2024

Visnyk Summer 2024

Welcome to the Summer 2024 Edition of the Plast Australia E-Visnyk!

On behalf of the Plast Australia Executive (KPS), I extend warm wishes for a joyous and safe Christmas and New Year to all Plastuny and their families. As the holiday season approaches, we reflect on the remarkable achievements of our community over the past months.

This year, Plast Australia has been a beacon of solidarity, creativity, and service. From the success of our “Sending Christmas in Boxes” initiative to support Plast members defending Ukraine, to the unforgettable activities such as the 2-day canoe hike by NSW Yunatstvo, the dedication of our members shines through. Events like the Prostir online auction and the Yalynka fundraiser have also demonstrated the immense impact of our collective efforts, raising over $10,000 to support returned veterans in Lviv through the creation of a space for psychological and social support.

Locally, Plast communities across Australia have thrived, hosting tabory, excursions, bake sales, and more, all with the unwavering spirit of service and unity. Highlights include the inaugural AGM of Plast Western Australia, marking a significant milestone for Plast in expanding its presence and activities. Additionally, Plast Ukrainian Scouts Australia held its inaugural AGM as part of our program to restructure Plast organisations and governance nationally, and to formalise the relationship between KPS and the stanytsi. This development underscores our commitment to building a strong foundation for Plast’s future in Australia.

Recently, I had the privilege of participating in the Bethlehem Light MPZ in Vienna, a truly moving experience that highlighted our global unity. I look forward to sharing the Bethlehem Light across Australia, beginning with a special event at the Victorian Parliament. Additionally, I was honoured to witness a historic moment in Rome with the elevation to Cardinal of His Grace Bishop Mykola Bychok, a profound event that underscores the importance of youth organisations within our wider community and global Plast focus. This moment reaffirms our core principle of being true to Ukraine and our faith, and the enduring strength and leadership within our community.

As we look ahead, we send our heartfelt wishes to all those attending tabory this summer. May these gatherings be filled with joy, camaraderie, and the spirit of Plast, creating unforgettable memories for all participants.

Our thoughts remain with the brave men and women on the front lines and their families, as well as those who have joined the Vichna Vatra, embodying the highest ideals of Plast. Let us continue to honour their sacrifices and support them in any way we can.

As we move forward into the New Year, let us continue to embrace the values of Plast—to educate, empower, and inspire future generations while preserving the rich traditions of our heritage. Together, we can achieve extraordinary things.

With festive SKOB!
