Visnyk Winter/Spring 2023
Welcome to the Winter/Spring 2023 Edition of the Plast Australia E-Visnyk!
Now that spring has commenced, we are able to reflect on the last few months of plastuvannia across Australia – and we certainly haven’t been hibernating over winter.
We can all be very proud to see that our growing Plast family put on so many events, including the first tabir in Queensland in many years, as well as the beginning of Plast in Western Australia. Events have varied from an Autumn tabir for Plast NSW which welcomed members from all other Stanytsi, an Easter Hike and regular skhodyny in Victoria, a tabir commemorating Sviatyi Yuriy in Brisbane, a Mothers Day concert in Perth, and engaging new online training sessions for our leaders. Plast Adelaide welcomed many guests and members for the 40th anniversary event of the Plast National Museum.
The PNE and PNB continues its dialogue with faith groups of members. In August 2023, Bishop Mykola Bychok appointed Reverend Andriy Mykytyuk L.Ch. as Principal Chaplain for Plast Australia on behalf of the Ukrainian Catholic Church for a period of 5 years. Also, Fr. Bohdan Vozniak K.O. was appointed as Chaplain for the Ukrainian Autocephalous Orthodox Church for Victoria.
At the same time, plastuny continue to do amazing work to provide humanitarian aid to Ukraine and to displaced Ukrainians in Australia – locally in our State communities and nationally. We have raised funds and contributed over $50,000 towards humanitarian and non-lethal aid for Plast Ukraine drone appeal. Around Australia vigils to commemorate fallen plastuny have been held as we pay our respects to those defending Ukraine.
As we see our Plast Australia family grow nationally, I encourage all to reach out to previous active members to consider rejoining Plast.
Thank all to our volunteers for their tireless efforts in organising and delivering such great programs and we look forward to seeing you at our upcoming summer tabory and other exciting events.
СКОБ!
