Our meeting on 2 November was truly special, as we had the honor of welcoming an extraordinary guest from Melbourne – Father Andriy Mykytyuk, the Plast chaplain in Australia and the Officer for Ulad of Ptashata in Victoria. His visit brought a sense of excitement, inspiration, and connection to Ukrainian heritage.
Father Andriy began his visit at a Ukrainian school, where he captivated the children with stories about Plast and engaged them in a series of fun and interactive games. His enthusiasm and warmth made the session unforgettable, leaving the young participants both entertained and inspired.
Later, we gathered by the riverbank for an enchanting outdoor event. Families came together to enjoy an afternoon filled with Ukrainian songs accompanied by the guitar, creating a lively and heartwarming atmosphere. The melodies resonated with the spirit of our culture, prompting not only the children but also their parents to join in singing. Even local residents were drawn to the joyful sounds, with some dancing to the traditional tunes.
This gathering was a beautiful reminder of Plast’s mission: to foster comprehensive and patriotic education among Ukrainian youth. By nurturing spiritual, mental, social, and physical growth, Plast aims to develop conscious, responsible, and empowered citizens of the local, national, and global communities. At the same time, it preserves the traditions of our ancestors, ensuring the transmission and understanding of our history, culture, and national identity.
We extend our heartfelt gratitude to Father Andriy Mykytyuk for his inspiring stories, engaging activities, and unforgettable musical moments. His visit left a lasting impression on everyone, strengthening our shared sense of community and cultural pride.
