World Scout Scarf Day – Tasmania 2025

The August 2nd Plast skhodyny in Tasmania were bursting with energy, creativity, and true scout spirit! From the youngest Ptashata to the older Yunatstvo, everyone took part in a day filled with learning, teamwork, and fun.

We began by celebrating Scout Scarf Day, learning about the meaning of the scout neckerchief and the many ways it can be used — not only as part of the uniform but also in emergency situations. Scouts practiced using their scarves for first aid, as slings, and even as makeshift ropes — proving that a true plastun is always resourceful!

The Novaky and Ptashata showed their endurance and team spirit in running challenges — testing both speed and stamina. Meanwhile, the Yunatstvo took on a new adventure: crafting bows and arrows from natural materials. Patience, precision, and safety were key — and the results were impressive!

Next came a fire-building masterclass, where everyone learned how to safely start and maintain a fire using different techniques — from the classic teepee style to the log cabin and star fire. Under the watchful eye of the leaders, scouts practiced lighting fires responsibly and then enjoyed the best part — roasting potatoes and marshmallows while singing “Horyt Vatra” together around the warm glow of the flames.

The Novaky also poured their creativity into making a new patrol flag and totem, symbols of unity and pride that will accompany them on future adventures.

To close the day, everyone took time to record their memories in their Plast notebooks, capturing the highlights of this and previous gatherings — stories, drawings, and reflections that will become cherished keepsakes of their scouting journey.

A heartfelt thank-you to all scouts, leaders, and parents who made this day so special. Your enthusiasm, teamwork, and love for Plast continue to build our strong and joyful community.
