Opening of the Plast Year in Western Australia

On 1 February 2026, the Plast branch in Western Australia came together to warmly and ceremonially mark the beginning of a new Plast and academic year. Despite the summer heat, the day was filled with a strong sense of unity, joy, and the spirit of one large Plast family.

A particularly meaningful part of the opening was the blessing for the year ahead. For Plast members, prayer and spiritual growth are an integral part of development, providing the foundation needed to grow into responsible, conscious individuals committed to service.

We extend our sincere gratitude for the shared prayer and blessing to:
— Father Ihor Holovko of St John the Baptist Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church
— Father Vasyl Olevych of St Nicholas Ukrainian Orthodox Church

The younger groups—Novatstvo and Ptashata—took part in engaging and educational discussions dedicated to the Day of Unity of Ukraine and the Feast of the Meeting of the Lord. Their program also included active games, singing, and a well-earned shared snack.

Meanwhile, the youth (Yunatstvo) enjoyed a dynamic and enriching program. Plast members participated in games that tested agility and attentiveness, explored Ukrainian proverbs and their relevance today, and discussed contemporary Ukrainian artists who are shaping and promoting Ukrainian culture around the world.

Even in the summer heat, the gathering created a space of warmth, support, and togetherness. Because wherever Plast is, there is faith, education, unity, and family.
